Alastair Bennett is a former golf professional with a passion for facilitating change in people and businesses.

His journey into coaching began in 2008 after an injury led him to shift focus from pursuing a professional golfing career.

His coaching business thrived due to a holistic approach, and over the next decade, he coached thousands of individuals.

However, his path eventually took a turn toward raising finance.

After building a successful coaching business, Alastair faced significant personal challenges.

In 2013, his mother passed away, leaving him in a dark place and struggling with the loss. Later that year, his girlfriend (now wife) became pregnant with their first child. This life event sparked a realisation for Alastair: he was determined to spend as much time with his family as possible, recognizing that life is too short to wait.

This decision led him to leave golf and explore property as a means of generating income.

Alastair began by managing properties to gain experience, then moved on to managing refurbishments and renovations, working on projects ranging from flats to three-story houses. He also learned to source properties both locally and remotely.

In 2015, he started building his own portfolio and has since become a portfolio landlord. This transition allowed him to work from home and spend more time with his family—his ultimate purpose.

Despite his pursuit of property, Alastair's passion for coaching remained his north star.

During his early years in the property industry, he attended several property training courses and was struck by their lack of emphasis on creating lasting change, despite the high costs.

Disturbed by this, he set out to make a difference.

Alastair was approached by a few training companies to become a coach, but most did not align with his values. He eventually partnered with someone specialising in raising finance, fully committing to the partnership.

Alastair used his coaching skills to help build a mentorship program, but unfortunately, the partnership ended when his partner faced financial difficulties and declared bankruptcy, resulting in a significant loss for Alastair.

Enter the Raising Finance Club...

One positive outcome from the experience was his work with a student named Sam Hill.

Together, they achieved impressive results, with Sam raising £4 million in just four months from private investors after Alastair’s coaching (this figure is ow just over £10million).

This success led Alastair and Sam to discuss the potential of launching a business focused on teaching others how to raise finance after both being asked by multiple for help and advice on how to raise funds.

From this conversation, Raising Finance Club was born, offering a more strategic approach than the industry’s typical “find a deal, and the money will follow” advice.

The approach that’s now been coined Raising Finance First.

Alastair believes there is no real strategy in the market, with some trainers even asking their mentees for money, disguising it as “earn and learn” due to their own lack of a finance-raising strategy.

His goal is to teach clients a targeted and relationship-focused approach to raising finance, avoiding the largely unsuccessful alternatives commonly taught.

The approach many teach—using untargeted investor packs to fill the void of communication skills—has nothing to do with building real relationships or creating meaningful connections with investors.

Alastair understands that most developers never want to feel like they’re asking for money.

It’s uncomfortable, and without having confidence in yourself and your value, it can feel impossible to approach investors with conviction in your communication.

Recognizing your worth and owning your expertise doesn’t always come naturally, but it’s essential for building trust and lasting investor relationships.

While Alastair has fun coaching, he’s means business when it comes to building an investor bank.

The principles and process behind the RFC methodology are no accident—it’s about doing things differently, and standing out from the crowd.
